Finlo — Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 26, 2026
Genssy ("we", "us", or "our") developed Finlo as a privacy-first personal finance application. Your financial life is deeply personal, and we believe you should never have to choose between powerful tools and complete privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle — and, more importantly, how we do not handle — your information when you use Finlo.
1. Our Core Privacy Principle
Finlo is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you, and only you. We have architected the app so that all of your financial information is processed and stored locally on your device. We have no servers that receive, store, or process your data. We cannot see your finances, and we never will.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be explicit about what we do not have access to. Finlo does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Your expense records, transaction amounts, notes, dates, or categories
- Your budget names, limits, recurrence settings, or spending history
- Your bill amounts, due dates, categories (such as House, Utility Bills, Food, Transportation, or Subscriptions), or payment status
- Your income sources, amounts, or earner profiles
- Your bill splitting configurations, calculations, or split method preferences (Equal Money Left, Proportional to Income, or manual assignments)
- Your spending insights, trend data, category breakdowns, or analytics
- Your currency preferences, notification settings, appearance preferences, or any other configuration
- Your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information
- Your device identifiers, IP address, location, or usage patterns
Finlo does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal details to use the app.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
All data you enter into Finlo — including expenses, budgets, bills, income sources, split bill configurations, and your settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure on-device storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to enable iCloud Sync or use the Export Data feature.
4. iCloud Sync
Finlo offers optional iCloud Sync to keep your financial data in sync across your Apple devices. When you enable this feature:
- Your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, managed entirely by Apple.
- The sync occurs directly between your devices and Apple's iCloud servers — our servers are never involved.
- We do not have access to your iCloud credentials or any data stored in your iCloud account.
- All data types are synced: expenses, budgets, bills, income sources, split configurations, and preferences.
- You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in the app settings.
Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy and iCloud Terms of Service.
5. Data Export
Finlo allows you to export your financial data in CSV or JSON format. When you use the Export Data feature, the exported file is generated entirely on your device and shared using the iOS share sheet. We do not receive a copy of any exported files. You choose exactly what to include in each export: income sources, bills, budgets, and tracked expenses.
6. Analytics, Tracking & Advertising
Finlo contains:
- Zero third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Firebase Analytics, or similar)
- Zero advertising frameworks or ad networks
- Zero tracking pixels, fingerprinting scripts, or behavioral profiling tools
- Zero social media SDKs or third-party login services
We do not track how you use the app, which features you interact with, how long you spend in any section, or any other usage metrics.
7. Notifications
If you grant notification permissions, Finlo can send local notifications including budget threshold alerts, bill due date reminders, daily expense tracking nudges, weekly spending summaries, and low balance warnings. All of these notifications are:
- Generated entirely on your device by the iOS notification system
- Not routed through any external server
- Fully configurable — you can enable or disable each notification type individually
8. iOS Widgets
Finlo provides home screen widgets (Budget Progress, Next Bill, Today's Spending, Money Left, and Budget Overview). These widgets read data directly from your device's local storage. No data is transmitted externally to render widget content.
9. Biometric Security
Finlo supports Face ID and Touch ID through Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. When you enable App Lock:
- Biometric data is processed entirely by the iOS Secure Enclave on your device.
- Finlo never receives, stores, or has access to your biometric information (fingerprint data, facial geometry, etc.).
- We only receive a pass/fail result from the system to determine whether to unlock the app.
10. In-App Purchases
Finlo Premium is available as an in-app purchase managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Payment processing, subscription management, and receipt validation are handled by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details.
11. Children's Privacy
Finlo does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the app requires no personal information to function and stores all data locally, there is no mechanism through which we could collect such information.
12. Data Retention & Deletion
Because your data is stored only on your device (and optionally in your personal iCloud account), you have full control over its retention. You can delete individual expenses, budgets, bills, or income sources at any time within the app. Uninstalling Finlo removes all locally stored data. To remove iCloud-synced data, you can clear the app's data from your iCloud settings.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or applicable regulations. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of Finlo after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
